Alumni Use
Winston House is approximately 4,400 square feet in size and includes three classrooms, two seminar rooms, two faculty offices or offices for administrative space, a library/administrative office, a student reading room with computer lab, a small kitchen, a patio garden, and a faculty residential suite consisting of two bedrooms, a living/dining room, a kitchen, and a bath. Combining the best of eighteenth-century décor and twenty-first century technology, Winston House is outfitted with an elevator and the latest in computer and video cabling. The Center’s state-of-the-art instructional technologies enable users to coordinate meetings in London with those in other European locations as well as with courses taught in Chapel Hill or other Carolina universities. The building’s users may host parties or receptions in the garden in the heart of Bedford Square. Winston House, in effect, stretches the classroom from the user’s home institution to Moscow and Istanbul and beyond.
